Dunes Review guidelines:

We welcome submissions from writers at all stages of their careers. We are open to all styles of writing and do not adhere to any particular aesthetic.

Artists and photographers interested in submitting cover art or art appearing within the body of the journal may query the editor at dunesreview@michwriters.org.

Submissions are accepted only via Submittable. We are unable to consider work sent through email or postal mail.

Please include a cover letter in the cover-letter section with your contact information, title(s) of your work, and a bio of 75 words or less, written in the third-person.

Simultaneous submissions are fine. Please leave a note in Submittable if any of your work is accepted elsewhere.

You may send work in more than one genre. However, please don't send multiple submissions in the same genre while a decision from us on the first submission is still outstanding.

We do not accept previously published work. (Work that has appeared on your blog, Facebook page, or that is publicly available online without a login is also considered published.) Submitting your work is an affirmation that you are the sole author and that you retain the rights to your work.

We aim to respond within 60-90 days, and often much sooner. Please wait for a response before sending more work. Unless we request it, send us work no more than twice per reading period; excessive submissions will be returned unread.

Payment comes in the form of two copies of the journal. We also invite contributors to read at the issue's launch celebration in Traverse City, MI. We do nominate selected work for the Pushcart Prize.

Submit up to 5 poems formatted into one document (.doc, .docx, or .rtf), with one poem per page. Format your poems as you would like them to appear on the page.

Do not submit poems individually; doing so will cause them to appear as multiple submissions, which will not be read.

Please include a cover letter in the cover-letter section with your contact information, poem titles, and a bio of 75 words or less, written in the third person.
